Drawing and Photography Section : Archaeology

Drawing section is one of the important departments of the institute. This section has long history of producing archaeological illustrations. The work carried out in this section includes drawings of the archaeological material such as stone tools, pottery, antiquities, sculptures, coins, beads, bangles, bones etc. Whereas on site the work includes contour mapping, site drawing, section drawing, structure drawing etc.

Apart from this work temple surveys and temple drawings are done with detailed in-situ figures on the temples.

In recent times the section has made serious efforts to keep the drawing and survey technology at par with international standards and is using computer aided software and programs for the drawings and survey as well as for the preparation of maps.
